Hi, I am Alysson Copeland.

I've been taking pictures and documenting my life for as long as I can remember (way before I "had the gear" to do so). I remember carrying around my point and shoot film camera growing up, asking my mom to take me to the drug store to drop it off for 1 hour developing, then heading to the craft store to buy all my supplies so I could scrapbook my latest film roll. Oh the memories.

That start turned into a passion for taking other peoples photos around 2009 when I started helping my mom photograph weddings. Over the next years I fell in love with wedding photography. I went on to start my own wedding photography business and did that for almost 10 years before having my first baby.

Once my son came along I stepped away from the business and didn't know when or what my business would look like when I came back. I stepped away for almost three years and after moving to West Point, with the encouragement of neighbors, I am back and focusing my business on capturing memories and moments for families. I feel like I have great experience working with families and children since I spent the three year away documenting the precious moments with my own son.

Photography is more than just making sure my settings are correct and everyone is positioned and smiling at the camera.  In your experience with Alysson Copeland Photography you will do much more than stand still and smile at the camera.  While I will absolutely do my best to get the posed smiling shot, I am also looking to capture emotions, movement, and memories that will last a lifetime.  In your session with me I will be telling your story.  Capturing a moment of time and the details that surround the moment.  I’m looking for the sweet interactions between siblings, or the hand your spouse lays on your back, the laughter and playfulness of your children.  Your session will be guided by me, but there will be freedom within the posing.  It is my honor to get to know you and I can’t wait to tell your story.
